Katie Beumer grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  At age seven she began studio classes with Artist Nancy Kahlow Curtis at Studio Seven in downtown Minneapolis. She continued to practice art making throughout high school and college. Much of her visual inspiration and perspectives reflect experiences from her travels.  In 2023 she visited Sedona,  Charleston and London. She currently resides in Madison, WI with her husband. Over the years she has taught art classes to children and adults. In 2016 she was an artist in residence at the Grunewald Guild in Washington State.

She attended the Women's Art Institute in 2014 and 2015. She continues to exhibit throughout the Midwest with a core group of women artists. In 2024 her "Lake Harriet" painting will be on display at the MPLS Airport.
